It has been 40 years since the first march in London in 1972. This years Worldpride was licensed as a procession under the Public Order Act 1986, which means no vehicles hence the absence of floats. This issues has also lead to cancellation of Pride London events in Soho as the Pride charity, couldn’t provide the assurances required to pay the council for these closures, and thus the safety of the crowds.
